Notes from the Family Services Trend Spotter Report/For Your Benefit Roundtable 2-12-15:
*Concerns voiced from providers regarding the state funding crisis for child care subsidy. At this time there is no news regarding how the state will manage mounting child care subsidy deficits. SAL/Child Care Connection workers hope to learn more in the next few weeks that they can share at the next Roundtable meeting on March 12th.
*New boards will be added to the forum to include child care and domestic violence so questions and information regarding those two specific topics can be easily viewed.
*Smart Start continues to provide diapers for parents participating in their program. Parameter: you must live in Peoria and you must be pregnant or parenting a child under the age of one. Smart Start provides in-home case management services, connection to community resources and help with transportation for medical appointments through bus passes/taxis for women with high risk pregnancies. They can help with medical questions, education regarding development and may be able to provide needed items such as a Pack 'n Play. Smart Start hosts pre-natal classes every Thursday at their office. Spanish speaking case managers available. Call for more info: 673-3769.
