Are there any childcare centers in Peoria that are equipped to care for special needs children, specifically a severely autistic child? Daytime and/or aftercare hours

I called Easter Seals and they recommended I call Skip-Along (Child Care Connection- 685-8064) to see if they have a list of specific providers who are qualified to provide in-home child care to special needs children. They do! I spoke w/ a worker there and they have a list that they can email or mail out. Also, just a side note that Easter Seals recommends parents attend support groups so they can network with others who are parenting special needs children. Easter Seals hosts the Red Cafe that meets every 1st Thurs. of each month at their location, 507 E. Armstrong, beginning at 6 p.m. The meeting on Dec. 4th will feature resources for summer care, such as the Heart of Illinois Special Recreation Association (691-1929). Easter Seals also hosts a support group that meets every 4th Thurs. of each month (but not in December) from 6:15 to 7:45. Child care is provided.
