Normally I wouldn't use the forum for a question about an individual case, but I'm hoping something about this client's situation would qualify her for some sort of assistance or community resources. Anyone have any suggestions?
This woman is 45 yrs old, fleeing a domestic violence situation. She has obtained a temporary order of protection. Her children are grown and out of the home. She was living in Pekin and just moved in with her brother and his family in Tremont. She received brain damage from a domestic violence incident 5 yrs ago from the man she has the order on. Her brother has given her a max of 5 months to stay with them. She works 12 hrs/wk at a food pantry making 8.25/hr. Her head trauma has caused her to be on 9 prescriptions and her cognitive impairment is severe enough that she cannot work most jobs. She filed for disability 2 yrs ago and was denied. She will need housing and any other assistance she is eligible for. I had her apply for SNAP. She receives counseling services.

She absolutely needs to apply again for disability. She needs an advocate to help her if she gets denied, as she must appeal and at that level, she may be able to get approved. Has she applied for subsidized housing in Tazewell/Peoria counties? I would recommend Sunset Hills (347-4331) or Willow Oaks (346-4159)in Pekin or Parkview Estates (685-3968) in Peoria- at least to start. I know you said she is in counseling. Is it through the CPA? Since her impairments are due to domestic violence, I thought talking to someone there might provide a link to further resources. I was thinking about her impairment and wondered if she could be able to work cleaning homes?

Jennifer, I copy pasted your statement above and sent it to one of my Prevention resources and the following was her reply:
Have her call Jenna Genz in our Pekin office. Jenna can set her up with a counseling appointment that will help her address her domestic violence concerns as well and be able to help provide case management services such as housing, etc. Jenna can be reached at 309-691-0551 ext. 196. Thanks!
So, I hope between Toby and this input, you can find direction for her.

Would this woman be eligible for housing at CPA if they have any openings?
