Hello all. Does anyone know anything about Environmental Investigations of the home? I have a consumer inquiring about one, because her daughter tested at a level 8 for lead exposure.

I believe the Health Department is the only place that deals with lead testing in the home. Do you know where this person had the lead test done for her child? If it was at the Health Department, they should have started an investigation at that point. It would also depend on if they still lived in the home where the child was likely exposed to the lead. If you can get in touch with the person and she's ok with you giving me her info, I can follow up with her if you'd like

Thank you for the information. I do believe they still live in the home. I will contact her and pass her information along.

Brittney- What is the status re. this case? It has been my experience that the health dept. will test for lead, but they will not try to put pressure on the landlord if his home has lead poisoning. They may try to provide support if he is willing, but it will cost the landlord money and he may not wish to get rid of all lead-based paint. I do not know if the City of Peoria can provide pressure, i.e. if there are fines they can impose should a landlord refuse to eliminate lead-based paint.

I've been working on trying to gain some ground with this client and I'm hitting similar road blocks. The client actually owns the home and is just wanting an environmental investigation done so she can find out where in the home there is lead so she can pay someone to remediate it. Does anyone know of a company/organization that does so? She said the Health Dept will only do it if the child's level is above a 10. I've left message with them, but haven't gotten a call back yet.
