Does anyone know of any organizations that are offering rental assistance and what types of eligibility criteria there is?

According to the Community Action Agency, they have no money at this time and haven't had for a couple of months. No time frame about when they will again have a pot of money in for rent assistance, but they said to call back periodically to check. The Salvation Army said that if one in need of rental assistance calls on Oct. 6th at 8:30 a.m., they may be able to help. The Friendship House instructed me to call back the first of every month to inquire. They have no money currently. Any other agencies helping at this time- does any one know?

Unfortunately, it seems like it's a pretty dry time for organizations when it comes to rental assistance. If a person is being evicted they can call the Prairie State Telephone Counseling hotline to find out what their rights are during the eviction process. That number is 1-877-531-7057 and they are open Monday-Thursday from 9am-2pm. Hopefully it doesn't come to this-but just in case it is good to make sure the landlord is going through the appropriate actions in order to evict someone. Tenants have rights even during eviction.
